Middletown, NJ – The Play for James Foundation president, Peter Koehler, announced that the charitable (501(c) 3) foundation that bears his son’s name has launched its new web site, www.playforjames.org.
“Having just completed another exciting ABCCL playoff series, it seems fitting that we’re able to increase the reach of our messaging about the Play for James Foundation through our new web site,” Koehler said.
“Last year when James coached the Monarchs to their third consecutive ABCCL championship, he was incredibly happy and gratified, not only with the team’s success, but more so with the individual progress his players made during the course of the summer.”
By all accounts, James loved seeing “his guys” apply his technical instruction and grasp the mental approach that he thought was so essential. But he was especially proud of the way many of the players gained confidence, understanding and a better sense of self based on the open conversations and personal advice he was always willing to pass on.
“If heaven is real, I’m certain James will be watching to see that the ABCCL continues to provide that kind of on- and off-the-field support. He would be thrilled if we’re able to use The Play for James Foundation platform to turn some of his broader dreams into realities,” said Koehler. “The new web site is just one step in that direction. Online communication is absolutely essential to our success and we are really eager to see the results of what has been a team effort of Foundation supporters.”
James touched so many people, particularly in the baseball community, who will now have the opportunity to see his legacy play out, 24/7, regardless of where they may be. Ideally, they may also be inspired to follow his lead when it comes to helping others, volunteerism and giving back in meaningful ways.
Of course, as a practical matter, the new site also provides a safe and simple way for folks to make tax deductible donations to the Foundation. The hope is that everyone will spend time at the site and feel free to provide comments and suggestions as to how we might make it even more useful, informative and productive.
“We’ll also have a very strong social media presence that will work with and enhance the effectiveness of both our online and offline marketing efforts. I’m not a social media expert… far from it… but I’m hoping that everybody who visits the site will use their social media savvy to friend, like, follow and link us to their various social networks. That will really help us spread the word in this new digital world we’re all living in. With people’s help I’m looking forward to great things this year and in the years ahead,” Koehler concluded.
